The next Alpha Course begins on Thursday 3rd April at 7.30pm. Come to the first one and see if it is what will help you. Alpha is suitable as a refresher course, and also for those who are seekers, - who do not know whether they believe or want to believe. The introductory evening is entitled Christianity; boring, untrue, irrelevant? The evening begins with Supper at 7.30pm, followed by a film and discussion. Ends 9.45pm. Telephone the Parish Office 8807 5336 and book your place

Summer Course on ˜Prayer' A six-week course on prayer. 8pm Wednesday evenings from 16th July in the Vicarage led by Mary Bolster.
The idea is to look at various topics in order to expand our understanding and increase our personal experience of prayer.
We will be studying some of the well-known prayers, especially The Lord's Prayer and some of our church liturgy. We will look at practical issues such as praying for guidance, praying for others, coping with everyday distractions and healing prayer. Lastly we will be considering some different ways of praying, for example, using Taize chants, Celtic prayers and the meditations of Julian of Norwich to name a few.
If you haven't been to a mid week group before or have recently done the Alpha course we would love to welcome you to this group. None of us are experts at prayer, and we all have something to learn. As we share we can learn together. You are invited to join us for our SpringBible StudyFeaturing: Paul's letter to the Ephesians Worship Fellowship & Prayer In the Church Hall Club Room". Thursdays at 8pm April 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th May 8th, 22nd June 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th July 3rd When you think about it, we all have questions and doubts about what we believe. At St. Aldhelm’s we have two ways in which we help ourselves think about our faith. Alpha is an introductory course which we hold
on Wednesday evenings. It begins with supper together, we listen to
a presentation on Video and end with an open discussion. . You may have
come across advertising nationally about Alpha, and it has been popular
here. It costs nothing, and it is ideal for those who have little or
no Christian faith at all as well as those who do believe but have some
outstanding questions. |

Home groups
Also in common
with many other Churches we have small groups who meet midweek, share
news and concerns, pray and support one another and look at the Bible
together. We encourage all who have done Alpha to join a group, and
particularly if you have belonged to something similar before you may
be interested in joining one of ours’. It is difficult in a large
Church such as ours’ to get to know people and be known. Home
groups are a large part of the answer. |
