Our work with Young People

Lets begin with what's on for the children and youth. A BBQ in the Vicarage garden after Church on 13th July. A trip to the Bowling alleys of Finchleys' ˜Hollywood Bowl' on 20th July, after Church. There is also a ˜Holiday Bible Week" for 5s - 11s being held at Edmonton County Upper School, 11th - 15th August, 9.45am - 3.15pm. This is a new venture, and is drawing together local churches. The aim is to introduce Jesus in a relevant contemporary way. It is being run by Christiana drawn from several local churches. The Bible week will be excellent for our own children, but also ideal for them to invite their friends who do not belong to a Church. If you want to know more or to respond to any of these dates, speak to Peggy or Bob or other members of the team.

Christian teaching for Children

Crèche

On Sundays we have teaching prayer and worship in the Halls for all age groups from infants upwards, called Urban Saints (previously called Crusaders). Christian teaching and prayer is given in small group activities which is bible based, related to their lives yet lively and good fun. The children usually rejoin the congregation for the last 10 minutes of the Holy Communion service.

Parents are welcome to bring children under 4 into the Church on Sunday mornings. If the child needs separate activity, there is a crèche in the side chapel. Talk to Gwen James (Churchwarden) for details.

Sundays 9:45am

Uniformed Groups

We have several uniformed groups affiliated to St. Aldhelm’s, for Boys and Girls of various ages. See below for details.

We have three Uniformed groups affiliated to us: Guiding, Scouting and Air Training Corps.

Brownies are invited to join Guides, and Cubs to join the Scouts. They have a range of activities including camps and learning new skills.

Also affiliated to us is 1571 Squadron of the Air Training Corps which takes boys and girls from age 13 and specialises in self discipline, sports, community service as well as a full cadet training programme with opportunities for levels of achievement and competition with other squadrons. Some even have a go at flying!
